Trailer transport

Utility, cargo, horse and car trailers are either towed by a carrier with the right hitch or loaded onto a flatbed when they're small or not roadworthy. The form asks for length, width, height and weight; add the hitch type in the details.

Where is it going?

What carriers need from you

These are the fields in the trailer form. Complete answers let carriers bid on the real job instead of padding for unknowns.

Every post also includes

  • Pickup and delivery addresses with date and time windows
  • Extra stops along the route, if any
  • Up to 5 photos and 5 files, such as spec sheets or floor plans
  • Anything else carriers should know, in your own words

Dimensions

  • Length, width and height
  • Weight in pounds, empty or as loaded
  • Hitch type in the details: ball size, gooseneck or fifth wheel

Before pickup

  1. 1

Note the hitch type and the trailer's GVWR from its VIN plate.

  2. 2

Check tires, bearings, lights and brakes. A towed trailer rolls on its own wheels the whole way.

  3. 3

Empty the trailer, or list what's inside and ask the carrier first.

  4. 4

Have the title or registration ready for the driver.

  5. 5

For horse trailers, secure the mats and take out tack and feed.

Trailer questions

Will my trailer be towed or hauled?

Roadworthy trailers are usually towed. Small or damaged trailers go on a flatbed. Say which you prefer in the details.

Can it ship with cargo inside?

Ask first. Cargo adds weight and is generally not covered by the carrier's insurance as part of a trailer move.

What if the trailer isn't roadworthy?

Say so, including tire and axle condition, so carriers bid with a flatbed or rollback.

When is the carrier paid?

You pay the accepted bid plus the 10% AllShip service fee, and Stripe holds it in escrow. The carrier is paid after you confirm delivery, or automatically 72 hours after delivery if you have not opened a dispute.
